Septmeber 2016 Retro Game Purchases

Well on Thursday the 1st of September I started the month by spending a heck of a lot of money  I Spent £25 on two boxed Playstations. One of them is the dual shock pack and has pretty much everythign it should have inside the box, the machine a power cable, a tv cable and a scat cable, 2 dual shock pads and a manual and came with a 3rd party memory card, all its really missing is the demo disc its supposed to have and the usual bits and bobs of warranty cards etc... The second was a Value Pack model, it has the machine, the power lead, the 2 normal pads and the official memory card , a rfu telly cable, two demo discs and every manual warranty card and bit and piece youd expect, all its missing is the inner box bits to hold everything in place inside.

I dont just get and get stuff though, this kind of made me realise I had gotten too many playstations so I sorted one unboxed one out and gave it to a friend of mine, he had been looking at various consoles to get for his own collection and didnt have an original Playstation so thought why not help a fellow gamer out.

I also spent £15 on a boxed black wii with 2 official wii motes, 2 wii mote plus add on units, and 2 official nunchucks. I have to admit that this was mostly for 2 reasons the fact it was boxed and the fact it was 2 extra remotes and wii plus add on' and nunchucks I could use with my Wii U... knwoing that when I was done with it it could go back to the Wii for collection purposes.

Then I spent £7 on 7 complete PS2 games which were Timesplitters future perfect, Grand theft auto vice city, final fantasy x, final fantasy x-2, crash nitro kart, star trek voyger elite force and Fahrenheit. all boxed and fuly complete

Didnt really expect to spend all of that cash smack bang at the start of the month and realised that Id spent in one day hallf as much as I had spent in the previous month.

On the 3rd I  Spent £4 on 4 complete wii games in a charity shop The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night,The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, just dance 2, and Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal

On the 8th I went to a charity shop and picked up the following little bundle for £25

A gameboy colour , green in colour with no issues except it has a yellow battery cover
2 rechargable gameboy color battery packs
an official nintendo carrying bag
the following carts 7 of which are in the plastic protectors
Scooby Doo Classic Creep capers (gbc game)
Nemesis 2 (gb game)
WWF SuperStars (gb game)
golf (gb game)
Dr Mario (gb game)
World cup (gb game)
wave race (gb game)
super mario land (gb game)
Jeremy mcgrath supercross 2000 (gbc game)
Game and watch gallery 2 (gbc game)
one of those dodgy 32 in one multi carts.

I also picked up a GBA cart of Starwars flight of the falcon for £2 from a local indie stall and a friend got me a cart only N64 copy of Earth worm Jim 3 as a present (the same friend I gave the Playstation to).

On the 10th I got Mega Games 1 for mega drive boxed with all 3 manuals for £1 from a charity shop.

Then on the 13th I Spent £9 in an indy store and got

Rugrats Search for Reptar for ps1 complete
ISS Pro Evolution for ps1 complete (platinum)
Hello Kitty roller rescue for ps2 complete
Primal Rage Snes cart only
Rambo 3 master system cart only
Global Gladiators master system cart only

On the 15th I got  688 Attack Sub complete for megadrive from an inderpendent seller for £2. while on the following day I went to an indie store and got Super Soccer SNES cart only for £1 and Fifa 98 SNES cart only for £1

On the 22nd I got  FZERO X cart only for N64 £5 and Megaman Battle chip challange cart only for GBA £4 from a indie store and then went to another shop and got Fzero X boxed complete for £9. I got the boxed one after the cart or might not have got the cart

This means that in Septmeber I spent £112 on retro games and equipment. Now to be honest it is the most I have spent this year as far as I can remember but considering how much I spent on the 1st day its not really that much. I didnt realy scale back thinking I had gone crazy or anything I just didnt see that many things I would go wild for. So what was my best deal well I would have to say either the wii for the wii-motes, wii pluses and nunchucks or the Game Boy color for the price of it including games.... not counting deals and money spent though it was great to get Earth Worm Jim 3 as I already own 1 and 2 and well its cool having something that came from a friend as a thank you.

Do people really want partners that are like themsleves?

OK so it time to get a little social science based here, I guess you could claim I am talking about Psychology but that would make it sound a little bit dry and boring, I guess the truth is though that just like they say everything is about politics well the other social sciences like Sociology and Psychology pretty much bleeds into all areas of human conversation in one way or another.

Part of the fun of writing a blog as apposed to trying to write for an actual scientfic journal of some kind is that I dont have to go into depths to check my sources I am providing entertainment here not true knowledge... So if you want to fact check me and try to prove me wrong then do so at the risk of your own time but know this I will not loose an ounce of sleep over it. Also if my facts are wrong it doesnt neciserily mean that my conclusions are, some things are almost impossible to prove after all

There is a belief that we seek out and like things that are the same as us or that we see some of our selves in, this has even been argued to extend to the way we choose a sexual partner, apparently some think that if your a man your simply looking for a vagina carrying version of yourself and if your a woman you want yourself with a dick, well unless your gay and then I assume they would argue that you essentially want the closest thing to a copy of yourself that you can find.

So what do I think about this? Well I dont completly agree with it although I do think sometimes we do like to see simmilarites, I know when I was a manager I used to like to see people with a simmilar work ethic who seemed to think in a simmilar way to myself but I think this was a kind of almost work based vanity, I was good at my job at the time and I thought that people who showed the same raw sparks as I had shown when I was starting out in the role  could easily achieve the same kind of success. When it comes to friends and potential partners though I tend to have what I call the 50% theory, let me explain this.

I think that if someone is too much like you then you will see all of the worst things about yourself in them, this will either lead to you hating them or hating yourself more, or even worse both of the above. If someone has nothing in common with you though then you have no real point on which to connect. I think you need enough diffrence that they dont remind you of yourself that you can learn appreciation for new things through them but then enough in common with you for you to have something to talk to each other about and feel like you have things in common.

This is a nerd blog so lets nerd it up a bit  with a random question which will add to the conversation in the long run. So why do I like House MD? I like it because I can relate to the main character. No I dont have a problem with pain killers, I do have a limp, I dont use a cane but I do certainly know what its like to have a lot of screaming pain in one of my legs, its more than that though, I am not blunt or manipulative like Gregory House can be even though a large part of me wishes that I could be, if anything I am what most people would typically refer to as a nice guy. I like the character though because he has character traits which I admire  a few of them I have in common with him such as an ability to look outside of the box and see things that other people dont and others such as the way he finds it so easy to decide he is right and then hold on to the fact he is right and gameble everything on it, I dont have this I hege my bets, I dont fully commit to risky decisions yet I do admire those who do.

In fact there is a whole list of things I admire but cant do or dont have in me, I cant play music but I think the ability to play an instrument is a wonderful thing, I cant knit or sow but I like seeing that kind of creativity. The long and short of it is that someone doesnt have to be like you, you just neeed to admire them respect them and find them intresting and they have to feel the same way about you, and if you have things in common then it provides lots of opportunities for you to be close and talk and learn what you think about each other.

Another one of those sorry I havent posted posts.

OK so this is one of those lame posts explaining why there have been no posts. The short reason is that I have been very busy. If that was all it was though then there wouldnt be much point in posting about it as I would just be posting well I havent posted I am busy keep coming back and checking to see if I ever bother again. I have mentioned before that I am a writer, I have even shown samples of my work but in complete and utter honest writing wise I was a bit of a burnt out mess. I had for about 3 years been steadily churning stuff out and then it all just kind of flat-lined my output got less and less. Sure even at the start there had been the odd idea which would be started and then abandoned but it got to the point where every idea was being abandoned and the ideas I was having were not that good in the first place. I would usually hit the 2000 word mark and then the legs would simply fall off.

In the last 2 weeks I have finished a 10000 word short story and I have written 20000 words of another piece, a piece which I am not actually sure how long it will be in the end, this is more writing than I have done in a long time and it has left me with very little time to write blog posts, it doesnt meen I have forgotten about my blog but it does meen that while the stories are flowing I am going to keep my foot on the gas and let them come out. I havent really watched or played anything enough to talk about it, well if you discount my recent addiction to the TV show House MD but I would think by now a million people have watched it and talked about it. It is not my first time watching it either its just the first time I have sat down watching episode after episode.
